Yes...its true ! I've really finally finished knitting the baseball jersey that had become the single most important project in my life ! But why am I so happy that it is finaly over, for the last five years, I've always knit a new sweater for my son's birthday, and this happens to me all the time. I plan well in advance what I'm going to knit, collect the yarn and notions required well in time, still end up completing the project in the eleventh hour. I guess this is how I am, not only in knitting, but in general that's how my life runs....deadline to deadline !!

The Jersey Challenge !!
Know what, I think I always bite more than I can chew. I am studying for my post graduation, knitting this jersey, crocheting a handbag, just finished crocheting a bath scrubbie and wanting to make another one since it was quick and simple......don't know what is the problem with my brain...some loose connections I guess...can't stick to one thing at a time. Guess I shouldn't even talk about my wish to make return gifts for all kids who'll come to the birthday party myself....

To be...or not to be !!
I saw this pattern of a baseball jersey for boys and I immediately wanted to cast on one for my son. In my exuberance, I showed him the pattern and he shared my excitement...said he wanted one for his birthday. My son's birthday is on the 2nd of Feb, and my final exams of MHA are till the 29th of Jan !!!
I don't have the heart to upset my son, since I haven't knit anything for him this season apart from an Angry Bird hat, but even with my love for kniting and the deadline approaching, I dont really know if I'd be able to complete this one or not.
They say, well begun is half done...wish I could say this for myself, since I've begun with doubts only !! This is where I've reached so far !!

I'm using Red Heart Eco Cotton Blend in shades denim and vanilla, and am knitting on 4mm circulars, which is another agony since I'm relatively new to knitting on circulars !!
With my little daughter always fancying playing with my needles and working yarn, my knitting has already come apart twice...so now the big question is ....the baseball jersey - to be or not to be !!

Here is a recipe that is a favourite with my son and everyone in the family. A perfect one for winters, this was the first cake I learnt ,around 9 years back. Thanks to my friend Chanchal who taught me how to bake cakes.
Here is a recipe that is a favourite with my son and everyone in the family. A perfect one for winters, this was the first cake I learnt ,around 9 years back. Thanks to my friend Chanchal who taught me how to bake cakes.
Here goes the recipe-
You’d require 200g of deseeded dates. Soak them overnight in milk, just enough to cover all the dates . Now seive 2 cups flour with 2 teaspoons full of Baking soda ( Sodium Bicarbonate ). Add 1/2 a cup of coarsely crushed walnuts to the flour mix. You can add more dry fruits if you like. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of sugar and 1/2 a cup of regular cooking oil( you can also use butter, but I prefer cooking oil as it is lighter on the heart !) Add to it the date and milk mixture ( you’ll have to blend it beforehand). Now fold in the flour and walnut mix. The batter has to be of dropping consistency, you can add a little lukewarm milk if it is stiff. Put it in a baking dish and bake for about an hour at 150 F.

Tada...you're ready with the cake. Shall be posting an excellent recipe for homemade brownies shortly, so keep in touch !!

What do I love more ?
I’ve been knitting and crocheting for almost 12 years now. I learnt these wonderful crafts from my grandmother as a teenager, mainly to be able to make small things for my dolls and myself. For years I was just making plain jane sweaters and cardigans..but it was during my first pregnancy when I started fancying knitting baby clothes. Like every mother, I too wanted my child to look special…..then began my hunt for patterns, fancy stitches, anything that would accentuate my knitted items. And I must admit, I haven’t looked back ever since. After my son came my daughter, and with her the desire to knit and make the sweetest and prettiest possible dresses and caps and toys for her, something I had always wanted as a little girl..(surely most knitting moms can relate to that!!)
Over the years I’ve polished my skills but I still feel I am a learner, and shall always be!!
And know here I am…a physician, a Hospital administrator, a health and lifestyle consultant, an avis knitter and crocheter….and now, a blogger as well !! It is really difficult to decide what I love doing more….what say !!
